INTRODUCTION
The Zambia institute of Mass Communication Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) is a training institute mandated to upgrade professional skills of journalism in both print and electronic media. The trust is rated Grade One by TEVETA, signifying a high quality of training service and management.
Courses
ZAMCOM in its highest capacity to train media personnel ready for the industry has various courses that meet the needs of both an individual and the industry. The courses designed by highly qualified professionals both in the academic and professional world.
The courses are certified by TEVETA and some by ABMA. A prospective student can choose to be either on Full Time, Part Time or Distance Program. We offer Diploma Programs, Certificate Programs and Short time Tailor made training skills from our FOUR Departments namely: Academic, IT and Research, Broadcast and the HIV/AIDS and Gender Departments.

ZAMCOM Open and Distance e - Learning Programme
ZAMCOM OD e-learning programme is a teaching and learning platform that will be used to deliver (1) diploma in Journalism and Public Relations) and (2) Agriculture Journalism training on a national scale through distance training using Open and Distance e-Learning tools.
The Open and Distance e-Learning in Journalism has been adopted as provision of the extension of tertiary education programme through e-learning.
It is the potential solution to information for all through Journalism training because it is cost effective and diverse. This programme will also assist candidates in difficult circumstances and those belonging to the least developed parts of the country to have access to quality and affordable journalism training.
In particular,,it has been promoted as a key strategy to achieve the ICT policy which is also in line with the Vision 2030 which seeks to make Zambia into a middle income nation.
What is this Open and Distance e - Learning?
This is a platform that ZAMCOM has established in order to offer Diploma programmes using distance learning, online tand e - learning tools. The institution will offer two journalism qualifications and these are: Journalism and Public Relations and Agriculture Journalism

Who then can apply to undertake this programme?
This programme has been designed for;
• School Leavers; especially those who are not
absorbed in the tertiary institutions, aged between 17 and 30 years, coming from urban, peri-urban or rural areas, with parents, guardians or sponsors in the lower income brackets.
In-service Journalists; working in institutions like: NAIS, ZANIS, ZNBC, Community Radio Stations and other media houses. These customers are in full time employment, aged between 20 and 60 years from urban, Peri-urban and rural areas. They have funds to sponsor themselves but may not have the time to leave employment.
Enthusiasts; these are customers who may be in full time employment or running their own businesses with other qualifications but have a passion for journalism and should be aged between 21 and 55 years. They may be from urban, peri-urban or rural areas and should be able to sponsor themselves. They may not have the time for day to day conventional training.
Eligibility
Minimum requirement for entry:
School leavers
Merit in English a must and any four (4) credits
Mature entry
Three credits that must include English. Candidates must be 25 years and above with proven 2 year of media practice.
Cost of the Training
Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations - 4 years
K6,500 per year.
Examination fees to be paid by candidates directly to TEVETA,
Residential Schools- at your own cost.
Diploma in Agriculture Journalism - 3 years
K6,500 per year.
Examination fees to be paid by candidates directly to TEVETA.
Residential Schools- at your own cost.
RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL
Two residential schools for four (4) weeks. This will occur during March/April and August/September periods.
EXAMINATIONS
Examinations will be in DECEMBER; this will be according to TEVETA timetable.

Further, ZAMCOM has been partnering with various stake-holders in mitigating issues of health, governance, and education among others to the people. Some of the Projects that have seen a lot of impact on the communities in which they operate are:
Action For Transparency Project - Fighting corruption using social media that allows communities reporting such vices
Wash Media Network - Fighting diarrhea diseases by making communities realize the dangers they face due to lack of toilets.
Community Radio Project – Enhancing the capacity of community radio stations to produce programs with educational content that benefits their audience.
