About Kwame Nkrumah University
Kwame Nkrumah University is located in Kabwe about 139 Kilometers north of Lusaka. It opened as a Teachers’ College in 1967 to train teachers for junior secondary school level. In 1971, it was renamed Kwame Nkrumah Teachers’ College in honour of the first President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
The Institution currently offers a four (4) year Bachelor of Education Degree programme on full time and by distance learning. It has an enrolment of 5,000 students. When fully established, it will offer fourteen degree programmes in social sciences and enroll a total of 17,000 students.
