The Malcolm Moffat College of Education (MMCE) is located outside the Serenje town center, It is operated by the Ministry of Education and Council of Churches in Zambia and has been training teachers since it was established on November 19, 1960. 

The History of Teacher Education in Zambia cannot be complete without the mention of Malcolm Moffat College of Education. Malcolm Moffat College of Education formerly known as Malcolm Moffat Teacher’s Training College is founded on the Christian faith by the Council of Churches in Zambia.    The College has remained an educational pillar for the country. It is one of the Christian Teacher education Colleges and was built on the foundations as David Livingstone College of Education of southern province.
