BACKGROUND

Lusaka and District Child Welfare Society dates back to the late 1930s.  Available records show that it was an affiliate member of the Northern Rhodesia Child Home Welfare Society, a member of the Rhodesian Child Home Welfare Society.

The Rhodesian Child Welfare Society had its Headquarters in Bulawayo.  The objectives of the Society were:-

(a) To build, equip or acquire a Seaside Home for European Children at Muizenberg in the union of South Africa, and at such other place or places as may be decided upon by the Society from time to time, and purchase or acquire and hold land for such Home or Homes.

(b) To carry on such Home or Homes and to arrange for holidays for children to be spent in such Home or Homes.

The first Council of the Society which was established in 1937 comprised members who were elected from Child Welfare Home Societies from Southern and Northern Rhodesia.

To conscientize and motivate pupils to become skilled and responsible citizens.  

Mission:
To achieve a high standard of education and general child welfare by optimizing pupils’ educative
